Films from Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean will screen at this year's edition of the festival. Here's one highlight:

Carmín's dream of moving to the city with her mother vanishes when she moves to the US with her new husband. Now a teenager, Carmín grows and lives in Barranquitas, a mountainous village in the center of Puerto Rico, with her grandmother, a tough and conservative woman. The arrival of her father after long years in prison eases Carmín's profound sadness. The relationship with him, however, brings its own ambiguity and complexities. Sinopsis:
Carmín guarda el deseo de algún día irse a vivir a la ciudad con su madre pero ese sueño se ve desmoronado cuando ésta se muda con su nuevo esposo a los Estados Unidos. En pleno despertar adolescente, Carmín se ve forzada a permanecer en Barranquitas, un pueblito montañoso, junto a su abuela, una mujer dura, conservadora y de escasos recursos para la crianza. Solo la llegada del padre después de años en la cárcel comenzará a atenuar el malestar de Carmín. La relación, sin embargo, traerá sus propias ambigüedades y complejidades. Ahora la joven deberá aprender a vivir entre el abandono y el cuidado; entre el deseo, el amor y experimentar la más cruda ausencia.
