Widower Renato gazes longingly at the sea from his mountaintop home, a reminder of the promise he made his beloved wife 30 years ago that he would return to Salvador de Bahia, where they met, before he died. His three children, however, want to send him to a retirement home where he will spend his final days, out of sight, out of mind.  Along with his granddaughter Carlota, Renato comes up with an ingenious plan that will upend his entire family.
