The Americas Film Festival New York

TAFFNY features films about the peoples of the Americas. A couple highlights:

El ruiseñor y la noche. Chavela Vargas canta a Lorca, Mexico/Colombia/Spain
This story is about the Mexican singer Chavela Vargas and the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Chavela Vargas recounts that when she lived in the Student’s Residence of Madrid, in the same room where Federico Garcia Lorca lived  so many years ago, she received the visit of a yellow bird that contained the soul of the Spanish poet.

Bienvenidos, Spain
An amazing innovation reaches a tiny school lost in the heart of the Peruvian Andes and revolutionizes the lives of the whole community: the internet. It brings the world to their doorstep, but even more importantly, it offers the world the chance to finally discover what's happening in the remote village of Ingatambo.
