Austin Film Festival

The Austin Film Festival has several Latino films. Here are a couple of highlights:

Acantilado (The Cliff), Spain 2016
Gabriel is a promising attorney whose life is turned upside down when he receives a phone call from the police. A sect has committed mass suicide in the Canary Islands and his sister Cordelia was one of the followers. Her cadaver has yet to be found. Having not seen her for years, Gabriel sets out to the Canary Islands in search of her, longing to know the truth of her fate.

Finding Sofia, USA/Argentina 2015
Alex is a conflicted filmmaker struggling to rise above his reputation as a viral video creator. Pressured to sell out and sign a big corporate contract, Alex impulsively (and drunkenly) buys a ticket to Argentina. His plan? Find Sofia, a mysterious internet fling whom he's never met. His search for love and substance is challenged after finding Sofía living on a rural island with her intimidating artist boyfriend Víctor. Will Alex capture Sofia's interest, or return to the US to sell his soul?
