Six recent films from Cuba will be screened in the series at the Centro Cultural Español in Miami: Venecia, La partida, Juan de los muertos, Vestido de novia, La pared de las palabras and Esther.
A couple highlights:
Juan de los muertos (Juan of the dead)
Cuba’s first zombie movie. Ne'er-do-well Juan is forced to take charge when zombies overrun Havana, and he has the happy idea to set up a zombie-killing business to help cope with the situation. Hilarity ensues.
Vestido de Novia
A happy marriage is threatened when the husband discovers his wife was not born as a woman. Cuban attitudes towards gender, as well as the trust between a married couple, are put to the test.
Miami: Jan. 5 - 26 at CCEMiami.
