This is the 8th year that the Festival of New Spanish Cinema brings a selection of new Spanish cinema to cities across the United States. Comedies, documentaries, dramas and short films will be presented along with question and answer sessions with the filmmakers.
Highlights include:
Todas las mujeres (All the Women)
Spanish machismo is picked apart with surgical precision in Mariano Barroso’s engrossing All the Women, the most tightly-focused and emotionally penetrating film in a quietly formidable body of work from the director Mariano Barroso.
Hermosa Juventud (Beautiful Youth)
Carlos (Rodriguez) and Natalia (Garcia-Jonsson) are a young Spanish couple who have been together for over two years. They drift along with ambitionless lethargy, picking up odd jobs and trying to keep each other happy, but circumstances change when Natalia becomes pregnant.
