LOS OLVIDADOS, known in America as THE YOUNG AND THE DAMNED, is one of the great Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel's Mexican films, made in the streets and, often, gutters of Mexico City with an almost Italian neorealist eye for the telling detail. In his story of the poor and lost, Buñuel offers no facile answers but the film has nonetheless become one of the definitive representations of the plight of poverty and hopelessness.
