Carlos Cuaron. writer of Y Tu Mama Tambien, brings us Besos de Azucar. Nacho is a sweet boy, but his dysfunctional family and social setting threaten to turn him into a monster. Neglect and abuse run rampant in his household, which is why the smart and entrepreneurial 13-year-old spends much of his time with Cacayo (Héctor Jiménez), a kind but dim-witted man who pirates movies for a living. When Nacho meets Mayra, the daughter of a local drug lord named La Diabla, he falls head over heels in love, despite the obvious danger. Carlos Cuaron’s coming-of-age film explores the innocence of first love and how quickly it can be tainted by the adult world.
