Nine-year-old Junior (Samuel Lange) yearns to swap his head of luxurious dark curls for straight locks—like the long-haired musicians he dreams of becoming—and finds the answer in hair straighteners, much to the dismay of his homophobic, and recently widowed mother, Marta (award-winning Venezuelan actress Samantha Castillo).
