Hola Mexico returns with a showcase of recent Mexican films. Check out their website for the full lineup - here's just one highlight:
This documentary follows parallel stories about the shattering human consequences of corruption and impunity in Mexico. Miriam was arbitrarily accused of human trafficking and incarcerated in a violent prison in northern Mexico without evidence. Adela is a professional clown whose daughter disappeared years ago, and who has received death threats for trying to find her. Guided by these women’s voices, this film explores what it means to find emotional strength in the face of violence, injustice, and helplessness.
Los Angeles: June 7 - 11. Full lineup and details here.
