Cesar's Last Fast - A San Diego Latino Film Festival Event

Using remarkable unseen footage and candid interviews, directors Richard Ray Perez and Lorena Parlee examine the last act of protest in the amazing life of Cesar Chavez. The year was 1988, and for 36 days Chavez participated in a water-only hunger strike to draw attention to the disturbing and horrific effects of unfettered pesticide use on farm workers, their families, and their communities. The result is a powerful documentary that does justice to a powerful activist who spent his life fighting for the rights of others. Cesar’s Last Fast is a moving and definitive portrait of the leader of a people who became an American icon of struggle and freedom.
